     It's an Asian plant in the Daisy family native to the temperate and Alpine Western Himalayas of Xinjiang, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Nepal,Pakistan between 5000-14000 ft altitude.

        The roots are widely used   in indigenous medicine as an expectorant and in veterinary medicine as a tonic, It has also been introduced as medicinal herbs that is used in treatment of heart diseases, respiratory diseases like Asthama, Cough etc.

        It is mainly exported from India to Nepal.It is one of the plant near to extinction in India. Hence medicine containing this herb is restricted but people are still exporting it in illegal ways.

Uses

  • It's root can be made power and can be used directly in required amount.

  • It helps to produce major chemical constituent that are used for medicines like  - Alantolactone, Isoalantolactone etc.
